A historic restoration of an 1886 farmhouse in Barrington, IL.

We lovingly restored the 1st floor ceiling to 9+ feet (It had been lowered to 8 feet at some point) and removed two layers of flooring to uncover and refinish the original pine hardwoods. The tri-color scheme was carefully selected based on its historical accuracy – it was common to see reds, yellows and greens.

This home is characterized by all the charm intended for its original farmhouse style. As you walk in, the entryway is adorned with a victorian-style staircase and gorgeous wood-carved railings. Between the foyer and living room is an oversized solid-wood pocket door with authentic bronze hardware. The dining room area features the original built-in, and the beautiful craftsman trim carries throughout the entire house.
